“Dad, why don’t they call you Pastor anymore?”

Do you ever have a question that floors you?  Not questions like, “What time is it?” or “What’s for lunch?”  I mean life changing questions that only the people who are the closest to you can ask.  My son asked me this question yesterday on our way to church, “Dad, why don’t they call you Pastor Matt anymore?” I asked him why he was asking.  He said it was because when he got to be in Kindergarten then he would be able to see me on stage teaching.  He wanted to see me on stage teaching again. That was a special moment for me.

For the last 10 years of my life I’ve been a Childrens and Students  pastor.  I’ve taught/spoke/preached/joked/communicated to adults, kids, teens, and even senior citizens.  I’ve been in front of over 10,000 at one time and in front of 2.  I love to communicate.  It is who I am.  Sometimes I feel more like myself on stage then when I’m not.  It’s not a pride deal but a gifting deal. I haven’t been using that gift and my son wishes I would.

Here’s the good news… I’m not going to stop communicating.  I have taken a break for the last several months but I’m getting back in the swing of things.  I’m booked at some conferences already for next year and plan on doing many more.  So if you have an event that you would like for me to teach/preach/joke/communicate for then let me know.  Simply fill out the contact me form on the side.  I would be honored.   I speak best about leadership, reaching the next generation, emerging trends in technology and their effect on non-profits, mobile strategy, and of course I can teach Biblical principles or break down some verse by verse teaching.

As far as calling me Pastor Matt, you don’t have to do that.  You know unless my oldest son is with me and then it would make him feel really good. :-)

It's kinda weird isn't it… not being on the staff of a church you attend? I'm still adjusting, too. :)

Yes it is. It may take a couple more months for sure.
