There is an old saying, “Going through fire doesn’t build character but instead reveals your character.” What interpret this to mean is that character is something you have all your life, but experiences you have can reveal, refine, and strengthen it. Now, please don’t hear me saying that experience isn’t valuable. I’m just saying that experience may not be a necessary element for being a good leader. Experience is great but it doesn’t mean that you can’t be a good leader without it. Your character is already there and just waiting to be proven. So if you haven’t had much experience, don’t be afraid to step up and do your best. After all, you can’t gain experience in leadership if you never lead!
