Have a first

When was the last time you had a first? There is something about that feeling of a first. Do you remember that feeling?

Growing up it seemed like there were firsts of everything:

  1. First day of school
  2. First time riding the bus
  3. First school lunch with pizza and corn
  4. First girlfriend/boyfriend
  5. First school dance
  6. First kiss
  7. First fight
  8. First car
  9. First speeding ticket
  10. First graduation
  11. and the list could go on and on and on

Then one day you wake up and you are no longer having as many firsts. You forget that feeling. Now for many of you that may be a great thing. You don’t firsts. You would rather see, do, and experience things the same everyday. You aren’t into the new or first. Either way, whether you love that feeling of firsts or you really don’t care for it at all, I encourage to have a first this week.

Try a new food. Drive to work a new way. Sit at a different desk. Change the location of your meeting. Take a Zumba class instead of lifting weights. Do something new. Have a first.

Why?

Why not?

It will change your perspective. It will change your day. It might change the way you think. And who knows it could even change your life.

Don’t be afraid of first. Take it from my oldest son who started Kindergarten today and is experiencing a whole lot of firsts today. He took it like a champ.
