If You Could Tell The World One Thing…
Written by Matt McKee // August 30, 2010 // Leadership, Personal // 2 Comments
I asked my 3 year old, Azlan, this morning this question, “If you could blog one thing today and tell the world whatever you want, what would you tell them?” Not only did he almost make me blush but he said, “That I like to wrestle with Daddy!”
Right now that is the story of my son: He wants nothing more in this world then to cuddle with Mommy and wrestle with Daddy. Yes that makes him very hard to resist on both instances. Why? Because he knows his message. He knows what he wants if you ask him what is most important to him.
That being said, Azlan, changes his mind all the time with all other decisions. Those decisions that don’t matter that much.
“What do you want to eat?” Azlan, “Peanut butter, but I don’t like peanut butter, so I changed my mind, I want a jelly sandwich.”
“What do want to play?” Azlan, “I want to play Hungry Hungry Hippos. No I changed my mind, I want to play Sorry. No I changed my mind again, CANDYLAND.”
So why do I tell you this? I think to many of us are the opposite of Azlan. I think if we were pressed to come up with the one thing that we wanted to tell the world that we would change our mind over and over and over. But when it comes to the things that aren’t that important then we know exactly what we want. Here’s the deal though… I think Azlan has the right perspective right now and I hope that doesn’t change. I want nothing more for him and really for myself and you to make sure we know what our message is all about. I want us to know what is most important and to be able to communicate that with passion and inspiration. When we know what’s the most important thing to say then we will be heard much clearer and that message will be spread much more.
If you could tell the world one thing, what would it be?

Matt McKee rocks!
Seriously though, isn't it awesome how God speaks to us through our kids. I just finished writing an article based on a statement my three year old made out of the blue last night.
Thanks for the article Matt!
