Kids using Phones to Learn in School

Written by  //  December 22, 2010  //  Ministry, Technology  //  3 Comments

Yes there are schools who are banning all phones from their buildings, hallways, and classrooms.  There are also schools that are embracing the phones as a way to learn.  Here is a story from CNN.com on the subject:

Notice how young the kids were.  5th graders today will soon be 2nd graders in 2-3 years.

How is your non-profit, ministry, church, or organization thinking mobile in 2011?  If you aren’t then you will be left behind.

the only thing that I worry about is balancing that line of building real, face to face relationships.

Anyway, totally agree that it needs to be on our radar for the future and even now.

cells can be used in so many ways.. ie: http://tinyurl.com/yahzmzg

    so we’re missing that.

but more important – we’re missing the communication piece. the community piece. it would bode us well if we took the time to listen and learn how kids communicate via cells. they have incredible networks. we need to tap into that.

I wonder how we could incorporate children’s ministry with how kids are now using technology like SMS messages and Twitter to stay in touch. The more a ministry can stay in touch with their youth, the better! My church’s youth ministry uses e-mail lists which may be effective but not as immediate as a text of tweet.
