Social Media Revolution Video

I use this video in my talk about why non-profits should use social media. Many people have asked where they can find it so I thought I would post it here. Enjoy.
I hope you get the concept that this is a revolution on how we interact with others. We have to learn to leverage this opportunity to enhance relationships both online and offline. That’s where the biggest advantage I see for non-profits to come in to play. Most non-profits are all about people and relationships and less about a bottom line. Non-profits can win in this environment even more than for profit businesses. Welcome to the revolution….

We are using social media more and more in our Church. We use it mostly for communication, announcements, events etc. This video says that social media is becoming more and more wide spread. People are using social media to have “real” relationships. You said, “I hope you get the concept that this is a revolution on how we interact with others. We have to learn to leverage this opportunity to enhance relationships both online and offline” and I agree with this. Social media is a great asset and a great way to enhance relaitonships.
However, do you think it will become the main way we interact and have relationships with people? Will most of our relaitonships be sustained over social media? Will we begin “having Church” over social media instead of going to a location? And if we are heading this way is it a bad thing?
I am not trying to say down with social media or that we (the church) should boycott it. I use it personally and with our Church everyday. I am just curious about these things. I thought I knew how wide spread and prevelant Social Media was but this video really just laid it out there and made me realize just how much our world will change and is changing right now.
Thank you!
I hope that the online world never replaces the offline world. I think the two should enhance one another. Will we start having church online? Some churches already are but they are also having church offline. There may be a day where a church, a group of people believing the same thing, will only be online in the corporate gathering but I don’t want us to be so isolated that we forget who are neighbors are. Communication of the greatest message in the world should be spread by every channel possible but that message must be targeted to people who are living and breathing offline.
